The first Starship Troopers, during the 90′s, had a lot of success because of its funny and corny one-liners, extreme gore, and mild nudity. However, the following two films - Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation and Starship Troopers 3: Marauder did not do well because the producers fell from the original storyline, as a result, failing in the box office and not seeing the light of day.
Sony Pictures is at it again with another installment, Starship Troopers: Invasion. This time around, the new film will be animated. Maybe they are off to a good start by producing the movie in a CGI format, I could be wrong. In my opinion, they should bring back the old cast, ditch the animation, and have a blast with them in the later years, but that would be moving away from the original novel by Robert A. Heinlein. I say, come up with some reason to bring a few back from the dead and get the fans of the first movie pumped up again!
