I did a double take when I first saw the case. The photo is made with a high resolution photograph to give it a realistic 3D appearance. Kind of makes me want to reach out and  feel him frozen in the carbonite. I know, creepy.

The case is really easy to install. Simply snap the phone into the case and your all set to impress your envious Star Wars friends!

Design

The design of the phone comes out of the box with a ‘Pop Up Play’ feature that allows you to do two tasks at once. For instance, you can watch HD videos while you email or text. The display of the phone is powered by a Super AMOLED HD screen which gives more subpixel than other phones, resulting in a higher quality 4.8-inch touchscreen display. Pictures can be taken with a 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.9-megapixel forward-facing camera. In addition, when taking pictures, the camera is able to take up to 8 pictures via a “burst” capability so you can choose from the best picture.

Intelligence

A new feature is ‘Smart Stay,’ as long as you are looking at your phone, it will stay illuminated and you will not have to tap the screen to prevent it from dimming or turning off. This new function recognizes how you are using your phone whether it is reading an e-book or browsing the web.

A new feature called ‘S Voice’ allows the phone to recognize your voice and will follow your commands, a Siri-like feature. For instance, you do not have to manually interact with the phone when your alarm goes off, you simply say “snooze” when the alarm sounds and the phone will go into snooze mode. Another feature of ‘S Voice’ is its ability to play your favorite songs, send texts, answer e-mails, and schedule tasks.

‘Social Tag’ is a new feature which recognizes your loved ones so you can tag them in your photos. In addition to sharing, the phone can operate with other Galaxy S IIIs via a ‘S Beam’ which is a back-to-back feature. This kind of works like the ‘Bump’ application for iPhones. Place the two phones next to each other and you both can share pictures, music, videos, and more. Other sharing features include an ‘Allshare Cast.’ This feature will allow you to beam your picture onto another larger device, like a television, so you can see what you are doing on a larger screen. One really cool feature is the ‘AllShare Play,’ this allows you to access other documents which are not on your Galaxy S III so you can work on them when you are away from your primary computer at work.

Under the Hood

The Galaxy S III is powered by a 1.4GHz Samsung Exynos 4 Quad processor. The best feature about this processor is it will use less power than the previous version and is twice as fast at processing data. What more can you ask for in an upgraded phone? In addition, the new processor allows 1080p video recording and playback! That means, no more grainy videos being uploaded to YouTube!

Ray took a simple idea and struck a niche gold mine. Aside from his YouTube channel, Equals Three, he has his own website, Ray William Johnson, where you can view other funny content and check out the =3 merchandise he has for sale for his fans. You can also view his social network pages on Facebook, Google Plus, and Twitter - Ray has more followers on Twitter than the President of the United States! He stomps Barrack Obama with 759,742 more followers! Aside from his Twitter followers… he has 2,926,375 people following his Facebook page.

Next time your reading about what millionth robbery happen in your local city in the morning paper, pop out your iPad, phone, or whatever device you use, and check out his channel and have a laugh at the expense of others.

As technology continues to add another layer to our hidden identity, it will only make it easier to hide who we really are and how we truly feel during a conversation via text messaging and social networks. So why the hell do we lie?

Dress to Impress

Hypothetically, we just added a few friends to our social network and we start chatting by text messaging. Do we feel compelled to “dress to impress” by giving a false identity of ourselves? Some people would and some people might not. Overall, we want who we are text messaging to think we are a “go get ‘em” type of person, so we might feel it is necessary to stretch the truth a tad. False identity does not stop with text messaging, it continues to our social networks – Facebook, Twitter, and Google +. For instance, we might post a leading statement stating how happy we are today, but we are actually experiencing a horrible day – our method of making ourselves feel better.

Hiding Emotions

Don’t you love those text messages asking, “How is your day today?” and “Everything okay?” These types of questions can make us pause for a moment and think about our response, most of the time leaving us to think how our day is really going. Do we be honest and tell the truth or do we hide behind the electronic device we are holding in our hands? Hiding behind our device seems to be the easier of the two alternatives, so we respond and throw in a silly emoticon smiley face to show we are just dandy. Reading one another’s body language or listening to the pitch of our voice can be an indicator of what our words mean when we are saying something completely different from what we are displaying. If we cannot be honest with ourselves about who we are and how we really feel, what is going to happen if we run into this person, or when it is time to finally meet this person for first time.

Truth Revealed

Wish I could play some suspense music while you read this part of the article, but I do not have the technology to know when you actually get to this section – still working on that. So, we have chosen to hide behind our devices and lie to those we are text messaging to feel “secure” about how we feel, what we think, and who we are. Now what? Well, sooner or later, the truth is only going to come to the surface when we are either caught in our lie or our true identity is revealed. During the study conducted by the University of British Columbia, they realized that the students who found out they were lied to (via text message) were the most upset compared to being lied to during face to face interaction or over the phone.

I have seen some horrendous shares on some posts where the URL is still showing and the caption and picture is below. When you enter in a URL from a website, Facebook automatically generates a photo from the website and the heading from the article. Here is how to properly “share” and remove the URL from showing.

Sharing From a Website

Unfortunately, the “share” button is being phased out by Facebook and will be replaced with only the “like” button, but some websites still have the button available. Sharing from a website is very simple. Instead of copy a URL and slapping it on your status update, I’ll show you how to properly copy and paste the URL to your status update and make it look goood!

You have two options of copying a URL from a website. Double click the URL in the browser (this highlights the URL), then right-click and copy. This second option I find easier because you are not fiddle farting around with the mouse. Highlight the URL and press CTRL + C on your keyboard to copy the URL.

Next, head back to Facebook and enter your status update, right-click inside the status update box and paste (use CTRL + V on your keyboard for the second option).

Now, Facebook will generate a picture of the URL and a link to the heading from the source the URL is coming from – delete the existing text from the URL and the picture and the link to the article will stay on the post. When you remove the URL it makes your post look cleaner – maybe it is me, but I like clean posts. Hit post and your done!

Sharing a Post

Every have one of those status updates from a friend and you say, “ZOMG! I have to share that!” Instead of rushing to hit the “like” button, look two links over to the “share” button. This button is by far, in my opinion, one of Facebook’s best options because it allows you to tag people who you want to include in the share.

1. First, click the “share” button at the bottom of the post. Doing this will bring up a window telling you this will be posted to your Timeline.
2. After the window is up, type in your status update.
3. If you choose, you can tag whomever you choose and they will be notified of the post. In addition, when you tag someone the post will appear on their Timeline.

Properly Tagging People and Pages

Tagging works like sharing. When you tag someone or a page, the message will appear on the person’s Timeline or on the Page you are tagging – the method to tag works the same for a person or a page.

1. In the status update box, when you want to tag a person or a page, use the “@” symbol before the name or page. For example, “I had the best time today with @Amanda.”
2. When you use the “@” symbol before the name or page, Facebook will generate names and photos of what they suggest you tag.
3. You can finish typing the name of the tag or you can click on the suggested tag yourself.
4. After completing your writing, hit post and your done!

Sony Pictures is at it again with another installment, Starship Troopers: Invasion. This time around, the new film will be animated. Maybe they are off to a good start by producing the movie in a CGI format, I could be wrong. In my opinion, they should bring back the old cast, ditch the animation, and have a blast with them in the later years, but that would be moving away from the original novel by Robert A. Heinlein. I say, come up with some reason to bring a few back from the dead and get the fans of the first movie pumped up again!

After hearing about the iPhone 4S and the new Siri application, I had to run out and buy the new phone! Sadly, I’m cheap and don’t want to fork out the $700 to buy a new phone because my contract doesn’t expire until October of 2012 – I can wait.

It seems Siri parodies are becoming a popular trend. One parody that really caught my eye was “Psycho Siri,” made by AndrewMFilms. This short 4-minute video has had more than 900,000 views to this date.

The film starts out with a guy talking to the iPhone he found, but he decides he wants to sell the phone. Siri is not happy with this decision and wants to take him out. She delivers some good one liners:

“Now that we are alone.”

“I overheard you saying something about selling me?”

“I’m afraid I cannot let that happen.”

“Do you really think you can outsmart me?

This artificial intelligence reminds me of the possibilities of Skynet…

If we look deeply about how we conduct ourselves each day we will notice just how disconnected we are because of technology, it is up to us to separate the two and truly enjoy our surroundings while still being “connected” with those on social media networks.

As I watched this video I noticed a few things:

Beauty of an Active City - I have never seen a city before; I have never stopped to look at how beautiful a city really is because I am always on my phone, checking my stats, reading about who said what on Facebook or Twitter, looking at photos of my family, or reading about how I can better engage my readers. If I would lift my head from my phone and look around, I am sure I would notice the intricacies of architecture and the activity within my city. It seems we take for granted how beautiful everything is that surrounds us.

People Watching - Have you ever sat down to watch people conduct their daily routines? I did this a lot during my younger years (because I didn’t have the distractions of a cellphone) and found it pretty fascinating. One thing I notice now is people do not stop moving. We are always busy to get to the next place while glued to the technology strapped to our heads or the phone planted against our ear. We are busy people. It is amazing how most of us go throughout our day and ignore our surroundings because we are fixated on our destination.

Our So-called “Connection” to Hundreds of Friends - Have you ever looked at the amount of friends you have on Facebook, Twitter, or Google +? Do we really know all these people? Do we meet them in life or only online? These questions run through my mind when I see people with hundreds of friends, even thousands of friends. It does not necessarily mean a bad thing. Would you agree that if we were to look around more often we would notice other interesting people? I think so. A study conducted by Zurich University found people who have more “contacts” on Facebook are more outgoing and interact more on social media networks. In my opinion, we tend to be slightly different people on social networks, our engagement increases because of the missing one on one interaction, but how are we in the “real world?” Are we the extrovert (outgoing) in the real world or the introvert (shy) personality?

Overall, we need to realize we are all disconnected in one way or another. Social networks have given us a chance to keep in touch with those in distant places, but stop once and while and notice what is around you and think of the possibilities of connecting with people outside your social networks. I’m not saying close your Facebook and Twitter accounts, but what would you say to your connections if you got a chance to meet them?
